UPS Systems — Power Backup for IT Equipment
VOWTECH supplies, installs and maintains uninterruptible power supplies for servers, network racks, CCTV recorders and office workstations. We size each UPS against the real load, connect it so equipment shuts down cleanly when the battery runs low, and check batteries before they let you down.
A Few Minutes of Battery Can Save a Day of Recovery
An uninterruptible power supply sits between the mains and your equipment. When the supply dips, spikes or fails, the UPS carries the load from its batteries without a break. That bridge is what stops a server from losing power mid-write, a switch from rebooting the whole office off the network, or a CCTV recorder from leaving a gap in its footage.
A UPS is not meant to run the office through a long outage. Its job is to ride through short interruptions and, in a longer one, give systems time to shut down in an orderly way or a generator time to start. Getting that right depends on sizing and configuration, which is why we treat a UPS as part of server room setup and not as a box to plug in.
VOWTECH supplies UPS units as part of its IT products range and installs them for businesses in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and across the UAE. Units already on site can be tested, have batteries replaced and be added to an IT annual maintenance contract so they are checked on a schedule.
Matching the UPS to the Load
UPS designs differ in how they condition power and how they switch to battery. The equipment being protected decides which is appropriate.
Line-Interactive UPS
Regulates modest voltage swings and switches to battery on failure. A practical choice for office PCs, point-of-sale counters, small network cabinets and a single small server.
Online Double-Conversion UPS
Continuously rebuilds the output power, so connected equipment never sees the raw mains and there is no transfer gap. The usual choice for servers, storage and core network equipment.
Modular & Scalable UPS
Built from power and battery modules that can be added as load grows, with redundancy so one module can fail or be serviced without dropping the load. Suited to larger server rooms.
Supply, Installation & Battery Care
A UPS that was sized by guesswork, or whose batteries have aged unnoticed, offers reassurance and little else.
Load Assessment & Sizing
We add up what the connected equipment actually draws, agree how long it needs to stay up, and specify capacity and battery runtime with margin for growth.
Supply & Installation
Tower or rack-mount units are installed, connected to a suitable supply circuit and loaded in a sensible order, with critical and non-critical equipment separated.
Graceful Shutdown Setup
Servers, virtual hosts and storage are configured to receive a signal from the UPS and shut down cleanly in the right order before the battery is exhausted.
Monitoring & Alerts
A network management card lets the UPS report power events, battery condition, load level and temperature by email or into a monitoring system.
Battery Testing & Replacement
UPS batteries wear out with age and heat. We run controlled battery tests, replace packs that are fading and dispose of the old batteries responsibly.
Rack Power Distribution
Power distribution units, dual power feeds for equipment with two supplies and bypass arrangements that allow the UPS to be serviced without switching everything off.
From Load List to Tested Power Cut
The final step — actually pulling the mains under controlled conditions — is the only real proof.
List the Load
We record every device to be protected, its power draw and how important it is.
Size the UPS
Capacity, runtime, format and battery options are specified and quoted.
Install
The unit is positioned with ventilation in mind, wired in and equipment is transferred to it.
Configure Shutdown
Monitoring and automatic shutdown are set up on servers and storage.
Test
A controlled mains failure confirms runtime, alerts and clean shutdown behaviour.
What a UPS Protects You From
Power problems are not only blackouts. Brief dips and surges cause many of the unexplained faults in IT equipment.
Data Corruption
Servers and storage that lose power mid-operation can be left with damaged files or databases.
Surges & Dips
Power is conditioned before it reaches sensitive electronics, reducing stress on power supplies.
Network Dropouts
Switches, firewalls and Wi-Fi stay up through short interruptions instead of rebooting the whole office.
Gaps in Security Recording
CCTV recorders and access control panels keep working when the lights flicker.
